A journey through 130 years of history

Origins and history – The HOERBIGER Chronicle: It brings the company’s history to life and invites you to discover its journey from its beginnings to the present day, with over 130 years of corporate history summarized in 130 pages.
With the invention of the steel plate valve in 1895, Hanns Hörbiger laid the foundation for a development that continues to have an impact today. Over generations, an idea grew into an internationally active industrial group.
The chronicle traces this journey from the first successes through challenging times to the present day. It explains how HOERBIGER has evolved from its beginnings into a global, diversified technology company. And it shows that the company continually reinvents itself without forgetting its roots.
History that provides guidance
“A company’s origins and history play a central role for employees as well as for customers and partners,” says Dr. Andreas Hünerwadel, President of the Board of Trustees of the HOERBIGER Foundation. Together with family shareholder Christiana Hörbiger, the Board of Trustees bears responsibility for this legacy. As the guardian of the history, it ensures that the company’s roots are preserved – while also making them accessible to future generations. “Through our history, we make visible where we come from and what we stand for,” adds Hünerwadel.
Preserving history together and bringing it to life
A key component is the partnership with the Technisches Museum Wien (Vienna Museum of Science and Technology). Together, the museum’s historical collections are being merged with HOERBIGER’s corporate archive and further developed.
An invitation to dive in
